TANZANIA WHEELCHAIR DISTRIBUTION 2025
In partnership with Lion of Judah Ministries
July to August, 2025
This project will have a total duration of three weeks. There are two options: Come for a three week trip or a two week trip.
The departure and return location and dates are all referenced to depart and return to Bozeman, Montana, the home of team leaders Lee and Wayne Hanson. Those departing and returning from other locations will need to make adjustments, as appropriate.
3 week trip dates:
Leave Bozeman, MT July 29 – Arrive Mwanza, TZ, July 31.
Return – depart Mwanza August 19, 12:50 p.m. local time, arrive in Bozeman August 20.
Lee and Wayne will be traveling at these times.
All team members need to be in Mwanza, Tanzania, no later than mid-afternoon on July 31.
2 week trip dates:
Team members need to arrive in Mwanza, Tanzania, on (or prior to) August 7th by mid-afternoon.
Return – depart Mwanza August 19, 12:50 p.m local time, arriving Bozeman August 20.
Home Base for the team will be The Lion of Judah Academy (LOJA). LOJA is 2 hours from Mwanza, so in order to manage ground transportation, all team members need to arrange flights to arrive and leave on the dates above

As of now (December, 2024) economy flights cost from $2000 to $2500 from Bozeman. Most flights have at least one long layover.
We (Lee and Wayne) purchased our tickets through Beverly from ASAP (888) 319-6224, tell her you are with our group. You can get your tickets in whatever way that works best for you, just please use these dates…and check your itinerary with Lee before final booking.
Trip Expenses while in Tanzania:
Food and lodging at LOJA: $35 per day
This includes 3 meals a day of great food. Lodging is at Upendo Guest House, directly adjacent to LOJA. Accommodations are basic but clean with bathrooms. Meals are in the team house on LOJA campus.
Lodging and food while in Mwanza: Approximately $50 per day (2 nights for main team)
Ground Transportation: $75 per person for trip (if you arrive on prescribed dates, otherwise it will cost more.)
Optional Safari: $250 — this is a one day safari driving from Lion of Judah Academy to and through parts of Serengeti National Park, in LOJ school vehicles and back again. (If you want to spend more time in the park, or travel in a safari vehicle, there will be additional expenses)
Additional expenses: Personal items, souvenirs, gifts, etc.
Daily Schedule: In the process of being developed
July 31-August 6: (3 week team) – preparations for wheelchairs distribution, assembly of chairs, disability awareness program for students.
8/7 – Arrival of 2 week team. Shop at the outdoor market. Travel from Mwanza to LOJA.
8/8 – Tour of School grounds in the morning. Afternoon start wheelchair distribution with first few recipients in order to train everyone
8/9 – Main distribution day at LOJA about 20 chairs
8/10 – Sunday – Church, day of rest and fun interaction with kids. Local market day.
8/11 – Transport chairs to Mwanza for 3 day distribution (small group travels with chairs)
8/12 – First day of distribution in Mwanza (Main group travels to Mwanza early in the morning)
8/13 – Second day of distribution in Mwanza
8/14 – Third day of distribution in Mwanza, then drive back to LOJA
8/15 – Rest and interaction with students, help with garden project, or explore local area. Lee’s Birthday!
8/16 – Serengeti Safari all day
8/17 – Sunday – Church, rest and play, local market day
8/18 – Finish up any remaining projects or fittings with wheelchairs or projects at school. Pack.
8/19 – Drive to Mwanza to fly home.
