Most everyone in the U.S. knows by now that “Giving Tuesday” is a real thing…joining the host of other uniquely American days clustered right after Thanksgiving, such as Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, etc.!
But, unlike those others, Giving Tuesday is focused on giving, rather than getting.
The Lion of Judah Academy in Tanzania is a remarkable place, making a miracle-filled difference in the world. Giving Tuesday provides special opportunities to support the miracle of The Lion of Judah Academy.
First, Facebook has set aside $8,000,000 (that’s eight million dollars!) in funds, which will distributed on a matching basis to charities participating in Facebook Fundraisers, on Giving Tuesday. Lion of Judah Ministries has set up a Fundraiser for this purpose. Here’s the link: Lion of Judah Academy Facebook Fundraiser
Over the past three years this Facebook fundraising opportunity has been a huge blessing to the school!
This year the Facebook Fundraiser is dedicated to students in especially great need of help with their school fees…and there are literally scores of students and families in that situation. The fundraiser will be operating until December 31.
If you are interested, it is also possible to select and sponsor a specific student through our Student Sponsorship Program. There you will find many students in need of your support. This is a new platform, and we believe it is much improved over our previous child sponsorship platform. But, since it is new, if you notice anything which isn’t working properly please contact us!
Second, a few generous Lion of Judah Academy supporters are offering a matching gift challenge. They have pledged to match up to $15,000 raised by Lion of Judah Ministries between November 15 to December 31. This dollar-for-dollar matching challenge includes funds raised on Giving Tuesday (which would then have potential to be matched twice!), as well as funds raised through any means during November and December. This is the third year we have been able to offer a matching gift challenge. We have met the challenge in both previous years, and last year we actually were able to increase the matching challenge part-way through!
The Lion of Judah Academy is tangibly and literally changing lives and helping to shape the future of a nation. The Lion of Judah Academy provides an outstanding education to children who would otherwise have little or no opportunities…and they are, in turn, becoming leaders in medicine, business, government, agriculture, church, and other fields where they are helping shape the future of their nation. All in the name of Jesus Christ!
Participating in the Facebook Fundraiser is easy…but in order to be eligible for the “matching challenge” aspect of the fundraiser it’s important to understand a few things.
#1 – the matches are distributed on a first come first served basis, beginning at 8:00 a.m. (Eastern time) Tuesday, November 30.
#2 – The first 2 million dollars will be distributed on a dollar-for-dollar match.
#3 – The next 6 million dollars will be distributed on a one dollar to ten dollar match. Once the funds are fully distributed the match is completed.
All contributions given through the end of the year are eligible for our Lion of Judah $15,000 matching gift challenge. Support for student sponsorships qualify for this, as well as general contributions and contributions to specific projects
Contributions can also be made through PayPal, using the links found on this site. Direct gifts by check are always welcome: Lion of Judah Ministries, 12523 SE Old Cypress Drive, Hobe Sound, FL 33455. Contact us at any time through the information found on the Contacts Page.
